In 1992, she received her breakthrough by being a part of the movie Basic Instinct as a secondary role. The Firm was the film that made her the main lady for the first and sole time. The film was in competition with Tom Cruise, Gene Hackman and many others. In the 90s, she collaborated with several prominent industry actors, including Gwyneth Palow for Sliding Door Hugh Grant Mickey Blue Eyes Julie Andrews Relative Values. Most recently, she played her character as Dr. Alex Blake in Criminal Minds.
